Overview
Responsibilities and Duties
→ setting up the operatory; ensuring patients are prepped properly and protective coverings are applied;
→ assisting the dentist in four-handed dentistry during composite restorations, dental extractions, post-operative treatments;
→ harting the conditions of the patient’s oral cavity;
→ harting the conditions of the patient’s oral cavity;
→ applying topical anesthetics, medicinal agents, fluorides and sealants. The assistant will also gather the patient’s history and updates accurately;
→ expose and process intra oral and extra oral radiographs;
→ ensure x-rays are properly mounted and placed in the patient’s chart.
→ ordering dental supplies for the clinic; assisting with administrative duties which consists of but not limited to filing, scheduling appoints, answering phones, and entering data.
→ providing appropriate and informative dental education both to children and parents.

About Public Health
The Virginia Beach Department of Public Health have three locations：Corporate Center III , our city-sponsored Dental Trailer at Birdneck Elementary School and Virginia Beach Career and Technical Center.
Required Qualifications :
→ Graduate of accredited school of dental assisting.
→ Experience working with Public Health Dental program preferred
→ Bilingual in English/Spanish Preferred
→ Certified Dental Assistant ( CDA ) Licensure Preferred.

Overview
Responsibilities and Duties
→ providing and managing direct patient care, including physical examination, assessment, assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Perform therapeutic procedures such as I & D, splints, suturing, infection management and wound care.
→ Develop and implement a patient management plan, record progress instructions, and help provide continuity of care. Communicate with patient about test results, follow-up care and other information. Prescribe medications, other medications, and treatment regimens to properly assess medical conditions. Designate the patient as an expert and associated patient care component.

→ carry out an initial consultation with each patient, in order to establish a detailed case history, assess their health and determine a treatment plan.
→ conduct subsequent one-to-one treatment sessions with patients.
→ assess patient progress through questioning and examination as well as reviewing treatment plans if necessary.
→ maintain soap notes for all patient consultations and treatment.
